From the airport to the harbor: Nice by car

Or, better said, rent a car. Car hire Nice is a must for the traveler on the go. Trusting in the town’s public transport system will let you wanting for time and will exhaust your patience – believe me, I’ve tried. There’s nothing romantic about a bus ride through Nice. And taking a taxi may get you wherever you want to go on time, but it’ll cripple your wallet while still exhausting your patience, since French cabbies are among the most annoying I’ve encountered. Or maybe it was my patented bad luck with these sorts of things.

Truth is, the reason why I’m plugging car rental is because it ended up being money very well spent. Driving down the Nice Boulevard – or coastal road – by night, feeling the warm breeze of the Mediterranean blow away the concentrated heat and stress accumulated during the day is a breathtaking, once in a lifetime experience I wouldn’t trade for all the cab fares in the World. And I suppose I am a driving aficionado, so it worked just perfect for me. The freedom of having a car – duly equipped with a GPS system, allowed me to enjoy Nice the way it’s supposed to be enjoyed – a busy, active city with a lot of natural beauty and many places to visit.
